Tractor Trailer Fire Extinguished In Greenwich: FD

GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich firefighters responded after a tractor trailer towing machinery caught fire Tuesday afternoon.

In a statement on Facebook, fire officials said the blaze was reported on Riversville Road and the driver had already evacuated the vehicle when firefighters arrived. The tractor trailer was towing heavy machinery at the time of the fire, officials said. (To sign up for Greenwich breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before it spread to an excavator that was being towed by the vehicle, officials said. Only the tractor trailer's cab was damaged by the fire, and no injuries were reported, officials said.

"The scene was turned over to the fire marshals division," officials said on Facebook.
