Tractor Trailer Fire Extinguished In Greenwich: FD

Greenwich firefighters responded after a tractor trailer towing heavy machinery caught fire.

GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich firefighters responded after a tractor trailer towing machinery caught fire Tuesday afternoon.

In a statement on Facebook, fire officials said the blaze was reported on Riversville Road and the driver had already evacuated the vehicle when firefighters arrived. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before it spread to an excavator that was being towed by the vehicle, officials said. Only the tractor trailer's cab was damaged by the fire, and no injuries were reported, officials said.

"The scene was turned over to the fire marshals division," officials said on Facebook.
