in Old Greenwich is now “powered by Patch,” so customers can get their local news while waiting for bagels and coffee at the popular eatery.
Patch has installed two state-of-the-art touch screen stations near the community bulletin board where locals catch up on Greenwich news, events and information. Now Upper Crust customers can log on to Greenwich Patch and check out events on the interactive calendar — or post their own classifieds, events and flyers while they’re in the shop.
“It’s taking our caveman , which is very exciting to us,” Upper Crust owner Robert Guerrieri said.
Guerrieri and his wife Amy, who have owned the shop for 17 years, jumped at the chance to join forces with Greenwich Patch. It was nearly four years ago that AOL CEO and Patch founder Tim Armstrong conceived of the network of hyperlocal community sites while having breakfast with his children at the shop.
In January 2012 Upper Crust and Patch will launch “Community Connection,” a series of community lifestyle events featuring local experts on nutrition, fitness and parenting at the Old Greenwich shop.
Guerrieri said the partnership with Patch makes sense because he and Patch share a common philosophy, “Support the community that supports you.”
