A Wintry Weather Redux? Here's The Latest Greenwich Weather Forecast

The Sunday ice storm prompted hundreds of calls to the Greenwich emergency dispatch center.

The only remnants of the icy holiday weekend are the white salt streaks and the sparkly crystals of salt along Greenwich roadways.

The weather wreaked havoc for motorists and Greenwich emergency responders. Greenwich Police said the Sunday morning ice event created an “inordinately busy” day for police, fire and EMS responders. There were a total of 28 accidents — 10 involving minor injuries.

According to police, there were six vehicles were disabled because of road conditions; 19 casualty calls, but not all of which were weather-related.

”We also had one officer suffer a minor knee injury. While assisting GEMS and carrying a medical patient on a stretcher he slipped on the ice. He remained in service and completed his shift.,” according to police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray. Gray said there was a “huge volume of phone calls the dispatch center handled for people simply calling seeking information.”

And it looks like there’s another chance of wintry precipitation likely to cause angst among drivers this week. The National Weather Service is predicting snow could begin late afternoon Wednesday and continue overnight into Thursday.
