Fatal Tractor-Trailer Crash Investigated In Groton: State Police

GROTON, CT – State police said they are investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident after a tractor-trailer driving southbound on Interstate 95 went off the highway Tuesday morning near exit 89 in Groton. According to an email sent by state police, the vehicle landed in an embankment on Cow Hill Road.

"The CARS unit is responding to assist in mapping and documentation of scene," state police said in an email. "The CSP Truck squad is also en route to assist."

State police said the highway is open in this area, as the truck is off the roadway.

NBC Connecticut reported the driver of the tractor trailer was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.
