Car Fire Spreads To Home In Hamden
Crews kept the fire from entering the house, officials said.
HAMDEN, CT — A car fire spread to the outside of a home early Sunday morning in Hamden, according to fire officials.
Crews responded around 4:30 a.m. to a car fire on Sunset Road in Hamden.
“The fire had fully involved an automobile and extended to the siding of the home,” officials wrote in a post on Facebook. “A fast response and extinguishment effort kept the fire from entering the house, although one set of blinds on the interior melted from the radiant heat.”

No injuries were reported and the fire is being investigated by the Fire Marshal, according to officials.
The family of one adult and two children is receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.

The Red Cross provided assistance to meet the family’s immediate needs and also “provided a recovery envelope containing information helpful to families recovering from a fire, including tips on cleanup; notification of important contacts; dealing with damaged items and more,” according to a news release. “The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant; shaving supplies and other items a resident might need when suddenly displaced from their home by a fire.”
The affected family will “connect with Red Cross caseworkers in the coming days to work on a longer-term recovery plan,” the news release states. “The Red Cross is able to provide assistance through the generosity of our donors and commitment of our volunteers.”
