Fundraiser at the Outer Space Benefits New Brooksvale Barn

Campaign has raised $35,000 of the $95,000 needed, and a foundation has recently offered to match up to $50,000.

Fundraiser at the Outer Space Benefits New Brooksvale Barn

The musicians from Blue Trail and Sleeping Giant are donating their time and talent on Saturday, Dec. 15 at the Outer Space in Hamden to help raise funds for a new animal barn at Brooksvale Park.

Regulars at the Brooksvale Fall Festival each year and playing locally for many years in and around Hamden, this popular group of musicians is preparing a play-list for an afternoon of musical joy!

Take a little break from Christmas shopping and the surrounding hype. For just $10 payable at the door, you can kick back and relax while you enjoy some great food and meet new friends while listening to some excellent live music. Children accompanied by an adult are free. Beverages will be available for purchase.

Brooksvale Park’s domestic animal barnyard has been open for the public’s enjoyment each day for close to 50 years. Currently residing at the park are ponies, sheep, goats, rabbits and chickens. The current barnyard design creates limitations for animal care and staff safety, provides little shelter from severe weather conditions and most of all, restricts educational programming opportunities. The animals need a new barn!

The goal of the Friends of Brooksvale Park is to raise $95,000 to construct a 36’X36’ animal barn. It would be constructed with an open center walk through so the animals can be viewed up close by the public and easily cared for by the veterinarians and park staff. It would accommodate school classes and allow for added recreational programs.

The Friends are excited to announce that they have been awarded a matching gift challenge from a New England Family Foundation for up to $50,000! As of the end of October, close to $35,000 has been raised.

The Friends of Brooksvale Park, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit, tax exempt, non-stock corporation whose missionis to provide environmental education, preserve and enhance the integrity of the park’s natural and cultural resources, and serve as an advocate for the park for the benefit of the citizens in the greater Hamden area.
