Patricia Johnson Bevins, 78

The Hamden resident, who was married to her husband for 58 years, enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies, camping, the beach and riding the waves at Misquamicut. Her funeral is Wednesday.

Patricia Johnson Bevins, 78

Patricia Johnson Bevins, 78, of Hamden, passed away Friday, Oct. 26, 2012 peacefully at her home. She was the beloved wife of 58 years this past Oct. 23 to Daniel P. Bevins.

Born in New Haven on Feb. 7, 1934, Patricia was the daughter of the late Henry and Marjorie Lincoln Johnson. She was employed by the UI Company until the birth of their first of five children.

She took on many hobbies over the years including gardening, chair caning, bread making, and knitting Icelandic sweaters, afghans, and her yearly Christmas booties. She enjoyed camping in Rhode Island, sitting on the beach and riding the waves at Misquamicut. After Dan's retirement, they spent their winters in Deerfield Beach, Florida.

She was the mother of Daniel Bevins and his wife, Kathleen of Northford, Michael Bevins and his wife, Marilyn of Coral Springs, FL, Geraldine Decapua and her husband, Edward, Stephen Bevins and his wife, Lisa all of Hamden, and Patricia Erdman and her husband, David of Meriden. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Nelly Bevins, many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by brother-in-laws, Edward and Gerald Bevins, sister-in-laws, Teresa, Sylvia, Margaret (Peggy) and Lynn Bevins, and a nephew Christopher Stone.

Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Wednesday morning, Oct. 31 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Hamden Plains Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Tuesday, Oct. 30 from 5 to 8 p.m.   www.northhavenfuneral.com.
