Get a Flu Shot on Election Day!

Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut, in collaboration with Ledge Light Health District, will hold "Say 'Boo' to the Flu" clinics at two of their school-based health centers in New London County.

"An outbreak of influenza can be dangerous and scary, especially for kids. As flu season approaches, a flu vaccine is the single best defense against influenza," the agency said in a release. "The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone 6 months and older get a flu vaccine each year to protect against the flu virus.

Both injections and flu mist will be offered at the clinics, which will take place at the following schools:

Tuesday, Nov. 5: Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School, New London, 4 to 7 p.m.

Tuesday, Nov. 12: Claude Chester Elementary School, Groton, 4 to 7 p.m.

Children with or without insurance are eligible to get the flu vaccine for free. Adults covered by Anthem, ConnectiCare, CIGNA, and Medicare will be billed. All other adults will be billed $18.

In addition, two certified "Assisters" will be available at the clinics to provide information to residents about how they can access affordable, quality health care coverage through the state’s new Exchange, also known as Access Health CT.
