A CT Soldier, 29, Died During Basic Training In South Carolina
The unnamed Army National Guardsman had a medical emergency Tuesday during what is reported was a 'non-strenuous activity' at Fort Jackson.
FORT JACKSON, SC — A Connecticut National Guard soldier died while at basic training in South Carolina. The 29-year-old has not been named.
Tuesday, during a non-strenuous activity while attending basic combat training the soldier suffered a medical emergency, an Army spokesman said. The soldier was taken to an off-base hospital, the soldier was pronounced dead at around 9:30 p.m., it was reported.
Their name is being withheld until there's a next-of-kin notification.

Thomas Byrd, the civilian public affairs officer said the death is under investigation.
"The loss of one of our own is never easy," said Fort Jackson Commander Brig. Gen. Milford H. Beagle Jr. "We take seriously the safety of everyone at Fort Jackson. Our deepest sympathies go out to the Family, friends and teammates of this Soldier."An investigation into the cause of the death is being conducted.

According to the Military Times, a soldier died during basic training in September of 2019 and in January of this year.
