Election Day was a good day for local Democrats in Manchester on Tuesday. 

The party won all four contests in the General Assembly and the local Connecticut State Senate race in town. 

Incumbent Steve Cassano defeated Cheri Ann Pelletier in the state senate race that saw an influx of outside political action committee spending in the final weeks. The senatorial district includes Glastonbury, Bolton and Marlborough. 

In the 9th Assembly District, incumbent Jason Rojas easily edge Republican challengerRudy Hrubala by a comfortable margin. The 9th Assembly District now encompasses the towns of Manchester and East Hartford. 

In the 11th Assembly District, incumbent Timothy D. Larson defeated Republican challenger  Thomas Ogar. The 11th Assembly District includes parts of Manchester, East Hartford and South Windsor.

In the 12th Assembly District, incumbent Geoff Luxenberg achieved a commanding win over Republican challenger  Timothy M. Devanney

The 13th Assembly District race between Democrat  Joseph Diminico and Republican  Mark Tweedie was the closest of the night, but Diminico pulled out a victory thanks to a strong showing in Democratic-leaning districts in Manchester and Glastonbury. The 13th Assembly District includes portions of Manchester and Glastonbury. 

Manchester voters also rejected a $12.5 million proposed expansion of the Mary Cheney Library by a 13,069 to 9,538 margin, while approving $4.9 million in needed repairs to the town's public schools by a 17,578 to 5,042 margin.
