MANCHESTER, CT — One person died Monday in a fire at a Manchester home, officials said.

The first call for the fire came in at 5:36 p.m.

When firefighters arrived at 354 Vernon St., they encountered heavy flames coming from the second floor of the home. During an "aggressive interior attack" on the flames, one person was located inside dead, fire officials said. The person has not yet been officially identified.

The fire was brought under control at 6:11 p.m.

No other injuries were reported and no one else was in the home, fire officials said.

All five Manchester Fire Rescue EMS companies and two from the Eighth Utilities District responded to the call.

The Manchester Police Department, Connecticut State Police and the local fire marshal are conducting an investigation to determine the origin and cause.
