Klan Comment Leads to Altercation at UConn Dining Hall: Police

STORRS, CT — Two people have been charged with second-degree breach of peace after approaching two others at the University of Connecticut's South Campus dining facility and asking them if they were attending a Ku Klux Klan rally, a police report indicates.

The incident took place on Nov. 14 at 5:54 p.m., UConn police said.

Charged in the incident was Holden Powell, 22, of Bloomfield, according to an arrest report.

A police report indicates Powell and the other were accused of approaching two people at the dining hall and asking them, "Do you have a Klan rally to go to?" The report indicates the two them called them "sexist, xenophopic and misogynist."

A crowd then formed around the scene and shouting ensued, according to an arrest report.

Powell is accused of throwing salt and gum at one of the people, according to an incident report.

The other person admitted to approaching the individuals to "agitate" them, according to a police report.
