Body Found in Mattabesset River in Middletown: Police

Police are investigating after a body was discovered in the river by two people who were fishing on Monday.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Middletown Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in the Mattabesset River behind Johnson Street by two people who were fishing on Monday.

The body is that of a white male with long dreads and several tattoos, according to Lt. Heather Desmond.

The man is believed to be in his 20s or 30s and the body has not been identified, Desmond said in a press release.

The Medical Examiner's Office responded to the scene and removed the body with the assistance of the Middletown Fire Department.

The Middletown Police Department's Major Investigations Division will be continuing the death investigation.
