Car Fire Heavily Damages Garage In Middletown

Arriving crews found a garage engulfed in flames threatening to extend into the home, according to fire officials.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A garage was heavily damaged in a car fire Tuesday afternoon in Middletown, according to fire officials.

Crews responded to the 100 block of Valley Drive around 4:45 p.m. on the report of a working care fire in a garage, according to officials.

“First arriving units found a heavily involved garage fire threatening to extend into the residence,” officials wrote in a post on the City of Middletown Professional Firefighters Local 1073 union’s Facebook page. “Engine 2 attacked the garage and car fire, while Engine 1 took a second line inside to prevent fire spread into the main portion of the home. Engine 3 provided water supply and overhaul, while Truck 1 conducted ventilation operations over the fire to allow crews to work more easily inside. This controlled but aggressive fire attack prevented further spread beyond the garage.
