Centerpoint Connecticut Welcomes Essex-Based Clean-Tech Water Facility

The LEED-certified company eliminates toxic water treatment chemicals which reduces the business's environmental footprint.

Centerpoint Connecticut Welcomes Essex-Based Clean-Tech Water Facility

Clearwater Systems Corporation of Essex, a clean-tech company, has entered into a long-term lease to move its headquarters to Centerpoint Connecticut, the state’s first-ever “green” office complex for small businesses.

Clearwater Systems Corporation, which has a proprietary chemical-free method for treating water in cooling systems, will be leasing the entire upper level of 6,200 square feet in the first newly constructed LEED® Silver registered building on the Centerpoint campus. Immediate occupancy is planned for over 4,000 square feet, built-to-suit, with complete innovative “green” floor plan design and finishes.

“Centerpoint Connecticut’s design and construction matches with our corporate values of environmental and economic sustainability,” said Anupam Bhargava, Clearwater System Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer. “Centerpoint is focused on clean-tech clients and the reality is that businesses do well when surrounded by other similar businesses.”

Another consideration for Clearwater Systems Corporation in making the move is Centerpoint Connecticut’s unique location in the geographic center of the state, along I-91 on the Cromwell/Middletown line.

“We are active throughout Connecticut, but this location right in the middle of the state is the right place to grow our business,” Bhargava said. “We will have airport access, easy access for our employees, and it will better enable us to recruit staff as we grow.”

Centerpoint Connecticut was founded on environmental stewardship through the use of efficient materials, technologies and sustainable design practices to minimize environmental impacts and provide significant operational cost savings through reduced energy consumption.

“Our goal of making Centerpoint Connecticut the state’s premiere destination for environmentally-minded businesses is now being realized,” said co-Developer Michael Tyre of Tall Properties, architect and LEED® Accredited Professional. “We are thrilled to have a clean-tech, fast growing company such as Clearwater Systems Corporation as our first tenant and look forward to other green-oriented businesses following suit.

Centerpoint Connecticut features innovative “green” technologies such as solar energy production, energy efficient shell construction, enhanced heating and cooling systems, and is being built from recycled and regional materials. Centerpoint Connecticut also provides an alternative to leasing office space that will add an important asset to a business owner’s balance sheet, as well as offering numerous tax advantages. It is situated at an ideal location - the crossroads of Connecticut - on the Cromwell/Middletown line along the I-91 corridor between Routes. 9, 15, 372 and I-691.
