Man Leaves Accident Scene; Drops Money and Shoes: Middletown Police

Middletown K9 and police successfully tracked the driver of a car who allegedly left the scene of an accident on foot.

On Saturday, Nov. 7, at approximately 11:15 p.m., K9 Hunter and Officer Michael D’Aresta were called out to assist with a track, according to the Middletown CT Police K-9 Unit.

The tracking was for the operator of a vehicle that reportedly walked away after being involved in a hit and run accident that occurred near the intersection of Ridge Road and Russell Street, police said.

“Upon arrival, a track was conducted using the suspect’s vehicle driver‘s seat as a scent article,” according to police. “K9 Hunter pulled from Ridge Road and Russell Street to the area of South Front Street. Along the way money and sneakers were recovered as evidence, later found to be the property of the driver.”

Hunter located the suspect in the backyard of a home on South Front street. He was reportedly shoeless and lying face-down in a pile of leaves. The suspect was taken into custody without incident by officers of the Patrol Division.
