The Middletown Police Department swore in three new recruits and promoted a veteran officer to sergeant in a police headquarters ceremony on Thursday.
Recruits Elliot Arroyo, Austin Smith and John Stroud were sworn in by Mayor Daniel Drew during the March 20 ceremony. Officer Douglas Clark was promoted to patrol sergeant.
Arroyo and Smith will attend the New Britain Police Academy while Stroud heads to the Connecticut Police Academy in Meriden, according to a report in the Middletown Press. The department now has 111 officers.
Before his promotion, Clark had been assigned to the K-9 and accident divisions. He'll now be assigned to the patrol division, according to the report.
