Warming Center Is Named After Ex-Middletown City Councilman
Former Middletown City Councilman Joseph Bibisi's work for the city's homeless will forever be remembered.
This week, the City Council voted to name the city's warming center program the Joseph E. Bibisi Warming Center Program, according to a report. Bibisi, who also served as the city's former deputy police chief, is credited with pushing the city to provide shelter for the homeless.
His commitment to providing help to the homeless includes serving as chairman of the Mayor's Task Force on Homelessness and a board member for St. Vincent de Paul Middletown, which operates the warming center, the Amazing Grace Food Pantry and the soup kitchen.
Bibisi served 12 years on the council until 2013 when he failed to receive the Republican party's endorsement for reelection.
