Board of Ed Negotiates on Residency Officer in Milford Schools

Rather than adding a .5 Residency Officer (as in a 1/2 time employee) to the Milford Schools staff, the Board of Education voted to spend $10,000 in 2013-2014 to contract a private investigator to look into cases in which a student may be purporting him or herself to be a Milford resident while actually living outside the city limits.

Assistant Superintendent Michael Cummings noted that of the 120 students likely to be investigated, half to one-third of those students "turn out not to be of issue."

The Board of Education agreed to the $10,000 in funding and noted that they would revisit the need for a Residency Officer next year.
