Milford Decides to Close Schools on Presidential Primary Day in Connecticut
But the decision to close schools means the school year will be extended by one day now.

MILFORD, CT - You could either blame or thank Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, John Kasich, Hillary Clinton, and Bernie Sanders, it just depends on your perspective.
The Milford Board of Education voted Monday night to close school on Tuesday, April 26 due to the planned presidential primary in Connecticut. Many students may appreciate the unexpected day off from school, but they may also not like the fact that the school year will go one extra day now.
The last day of school is now scheduled for Friday, June 10. The Registrar of Voters asked school officials to cancel school on the date of the primary.

"This decision has been made in order to preserve the safety of our students and staff, as well as the security of our school buildings that are used as polling places," wrote Elizabeth Feser, who is superintendent of schools.
"Voter turnout is expected to be significant this year and not having school in session on that day will enable election officials and voters to conduct the election smoothly and without added complication," Feser added.
