1 Car Stolen in Milford, 12 Broken Into Including State Police Cruiser: UPDATE

The break-ins occurred late Monday and early Tuesday and someone took off with an AR-15 rifle and a bullet-proof vest.

UPDATE, 3:20 P.M.

Milford police confirm what the Milford Mirror first reported this morning that numerous vehicles were broken into in the area of West Rutland Road, Plains Road and Haystack Road late Monday and into early Tuesday.

Officers and Detectives spent the entire day working in the area looking for information on these break-ins, police said in a mid afternoon news release.

At this point, 12 vehicles were gone through and had various items taken, police said. Also, 1 motor vehicle was stolen, a 2015 Green Ford Fusion, with Vermont license plate GHK528, police added.

One of the vehicles gone through is an off duty CT State Police Cruiser. Stolen from this Police Cruiser was an AR-15 Rifle and a Ballistic Bullet Proof Vest.

CT State Police Major Crimes Unit and Milford Police Detective Bureau are working collaboratively on this case and these other incidents.

Original post: MILFORD, CT - A number of unlocked cars on Haystack Road, Cornfield Drive and West Rutland Street were broken into Monday night and early Tuesday, the Milford Mirror reports.

A resident contacted the Mirror and said some small electronics, a purse, and even a laptop and other items were stolen from unlocked cars in the very quiet neighborhood. One vehicle was even “trashed” the resident reported.
