Obituary: Frank A. Russo, age 91, of Milford

Frank was a member of the Italian Community Center in Bridgeport and enjoyed golf, walking, swimming, cooking, tending his vegetable garden, playing the daily numbers and the lottery, and was an avid fan of the NY Yankees.

Frank A. Russo, age 91, longtime resident of Milford, and beloved husband to the late Mary Lee Cerino Russo, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport. 

Born on January 31, 1921 in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Joseph and Antoinette Russo and was raised in Bridgeport, later in Fairfield and Trumbull and finally came to live in Milford. 

Frank wore many work hats; he was a barber and a caddie and a masseuse at the YMCA. He was employed as an inspector at GE in Bridgeport for many years and worked with Cooper Real Estate. Frank had a passion for building homes and was the co-owner of CalaRuss Homes and, in 1973, became the owner of Russo and Sons Builders until his retirement in 2000. 

Frank was a member of the Italian Community Center in Bridgeport and enjoyed golf, walking, swimming, cooking, tending his vegetable garden, playing the daily numbers and the lottery, and was an avid fan of the NY Yankees. A loving and kind father, grandfather, brother and uncle he will be greatly missed. 

He is survived by his son, Alan Russo and his wife Sally of Milford, who were devoted to his care for the past several years, his two grandchildren, Anne Russo of Milford and Mark Russo and his wife Anne Loh Russo of Shelton; sisters-in-law, Mary Russo of Bridgeport and Alice Russo of Shelton. 

He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Frank was predeceased by his son, Robert Russo and two brothers, John and Michael Russo. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Vincent’s Hospital for their care and compassion that they showed Frank during his stay. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 27th at 10:30 am at Christ the Redeemer Church, 325 Oronoque Rd., Milford. 

Interment to follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
