Just as departures on the city side of government in Milford altered the list of the , so have jostlings on the school side — to the point where the rankings for the year 2011 resulted in a virtual tie.

Assistant Superintendent R. Michael Cummings took the top spot on the schools side of wage earners with an income of roughly $157,500—barely edging out , who assumed her position in April. Cummings' income represented his additional time and service to the district while serving as acting superintendent from November of 2009 through March of 2011.  

The base salary for the position of superintendent of schools in Milford is $185,000. In Milford, Superintendent of Schools Feser earned close to $157,000 last year. 

The third highest ranking typically goes to the Deputy Superintendent of School Operations, a position that also saw a change in personnel. Former Deputy Superintendent of School Operations Philip G. Russell retired late in the year, passing .   

As such, John Barile, principal at , ranked number three on the wage earners list for 2011 with an income last year of just under $135,600. 

The bottom of the top 20 rankings was a dead heat. Caroline Keramis, who serves as principal of , and Carole Swift, principal, each earned incomes of $124,548.32.

According to Deputy Superintendent Richetelli, the Board of Education determines the superintendent's salary as part of her annual evaluation. The adminstrators with whom the district negotiates belong to the Milford Association of School Administrators or MASA. 

The current contract with MASA expires June 30, 2013, Richetelli said.
