Winds clocked at 35 mph as the eye of the storm heads toward New Jersey.

CL&P Took Crews Off the Road Due to Powerful Wind Gusts

Monroe town officials were informed that Connecticut Light & Power removed its crews from the roads Monday, because of powerful gusts of wind at around 5 p.m. Winds are clocked at 35 mph here and 11% of the town has lost power.

According to weather reports, the eye of Hurricane Sandy is supposed to touch ground in New Jersey in about one hour.
