Body Found In Naugatuck River During Memorial Day Parade: Police

The decomposing body was spotted by a member of the public during Seymour's annual Memorial Day parade, according to police.

SEYMOUR, CT — A decomposing body was pulled from the Naugatuck River after it was spotted by a member of the public during Seymour’s annual Memorial Day parade, according to police.

Shortly after 11:30 a.m. Sunday, a person saw the remains of a man in the river under the Broad Street bridge, police said. Emergency crews cordoned off the area and recovered the body, which was in various stages of decomposition, according to police.

The remains were taken to Farmington for an autopsy to determine the identity and cause of death of the deceased, police said, adding the incident remains under investigation.
