Naugatuck Man Charged After Hitting Victim In The Head With a Bottle, Police Say

A disturbance between a man and woman ended up with the victim being hit over the head with a bottle, Naugatuck police said in a press release.

Police said officers responded to General Pulaski Way for a disturbance on Monday between two acquaintances.

During an argument, Nicholas Andrew, 33, of 685 Anderson Street, is accused of hitting the victim over the head with a bottle causing lacerations to her head and hands, police said.

When the victim attempted to call 911, Andrew grabbed the phone and prevented that from happening, police said.

When police arrived Andrew fled into the woods but was apprehended, police said. He was held on $25,000 bond.

Andrew was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree unlawful restraint, first-degree reckless endangerment, interfering with an emergency calls, breach of peace and interfering with an officer.
