A heated argument on Scott Street allegedly turned violent.

Woman Arrested for Risk of Injury to Child After Domestic Dispute
A domestic dispute that bridged two families and households ended with a canine pursuit and the arrest of a Naugatuck woman on several charges, including breach of peace and risk of injury to a child.

According to police, the dispute began when the boyfriend and father of child arrived at the mother’s home on Scott Street, accusing the girlfriend and her father of being intoxicated while watching the child.

The boyfriend took the child to his home down the street and the girlfriend, identified as 24-year-old Katherine Murphy, followed, leading to an argument.

During the confrontation, which occurred in front of the child, Murphy allegedly broke the screen door of the boyfriend’s home, entered the house and struck his adult sister, grabbing her face and hair.

Murphy fled the scene before police arrived but was tracked using the K9 unit.

She was released on $2,500 bond and arraigned Thursday on charges of felony risk of injury to a child and burglary in the third degree, as well as misdemeanor breach of peace in the second degree and criminal mischief in the third degree.

The case has been referred to the Family Relations Officer and another court date has been scheduled for July 1.
