New Canaan Police Officer's Life Saved By Colleagues

New Canaan Police Officer Jeffrey Pollock suffered an undisclosed, life-threatening medical emergency over the weekend.

NEW CANAAN, CT — During the department's physical fitness testing last weekend, New Canaan Police Officer Jeffrey Pollock suffered an undisclosed, life-threatening medical emergency and was saved by fellow officers Rex Sprosta and Tom Callinan, according to Police Chief Leon Krolikowski.

Sprosta was administering the physical test at 7 a.m. when the incident occurred, while Callinan was on patrol in the area when they "rendered life-saving care" to the officer.

"Other members of our Department, members of the New Canaan Volunteer Ambulance Corps (NCVAC), and other first responders [also] assisted with Officer Pollock’s care," said Krolikowski in a statement.

Officer Pollock was transported to an area hospital where he remains in stable and continues to undergo testing and treatment.

"We are exceptionally proud of how expertly our officers, members of the NCVAC and other first responders worked together and performed during this emergency," said Krolikowski. "Everyone’s teamwork ensured the best outcome and saved Officer Pollock’s life."

As a result, Officers Sprosta and Callinan will be awarded with the department's lifesaving medal during a ceremony in which Officer Pollock will present the honor. A date for the event has not yet been disclosed as Pollock continues to recover.

"Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, paramedics and other medical professionals who continue to provide expert care to Officer Pollock."
