Q Bridge Overnight Fatal, Wrong-Way Crash Being Investigated: Police

NEW HAVEN, CT — A West Haven man driving a Kia Optima the wrong way on the Q Bridge overnight was killed after a head-on collision with a box truck, state police said.

Jimmie Lee Wilson, 41, was alone in the 2015 model car at 2:15 a.m. traveling the wrong way in the southbound lane of Interstate 95 when he slammed into an oncoming Hino truck on the Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge.

The truck caught fire and its driver and his two passengers, Connecticut State Police said in a report, were all transported to the hospital with injuries described as minor.

The state police report reads that Wilson "sustained fatal injuries as of a result of the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene."
