New London Firefighters Prevent Car Fire From Impacting Occupied High-Rise

The car fire may have seemed routine, but firefighters needed to act quickly, as the building was likely filled with sleeping residents.

Overnight, a car fire at 46 Crystal Ave. — three cars were burning against the building. Fire was quickly knocked down, no extension to the building.

This may seem like a routine car fire, however the cars were within feet of a 9-story occupied high rise, and at 2 a.m. it can be assumed this building was full of sleeping residents.

The flames were impinging on the building when units arrived. The quick, efficient, staffed response by the on duty members of L-1522 stopped this car fire from spreading to the building. Some smoke was removed from the building, but the fire was held to the outside.
