New London Police Make Assault Arrests

The arrested three people on assault charges on Monday evening. The charges stem from two separate incidents.

Deputy Chief Peter Reichard said officers first responded to 127 Hempstead Street at about 10:58 p.m. for a report of a man bleeding from a forehead laceration. Reichard said officers determined that the man, 55-year-old James Robinson, was punched several times by 36-year-old William Lee while sitting on a couch in an apartment. Reichard said the investigation determined that both Robinson and Lee were under the influence of alcohol at the time.

Lee was arrested at his apartment in the same building and charged with second-degree assault. Robinson was hospitalized for treatment.

At 11:14 p.m., officers responded to a report of siblings fighting at 224 Vauxhall Street. Both 34-year-old Keith Barnum and 32-year-old Kerry Barnum were treated for minor injuries sustained in the altercation.

Keith was charged with two counts of assault on a police officer as well as threatening, third-degree assault, disorderly conduct, and interfering with police. Kerry was charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct. Reichard said Keith spat at one officer and kicked another while he was being taken into custody.
