Shore Line East Begins 'Quiet Cars' Program

Shore Line East will offer quiet cars on certain trains as part of a pilot program beginning Monday, April 23, the Connecticut Department of Transportation announced.

The pilot program will offer commuters two quiet cars in the morning on peak weekday trains, and one in the evening as part of the pilot program.

Quiet cars will prohibit riders to use electronics, including cell phones, iPods, DVD players, and laptops unless they're used without creating noise and loud conversation will not be allowed, either, according to the release.

The ConnDOT says that the "Stamford Express" trains that arrive in Stamford at 7:54 a.m. and 8:33 a.m. will be part of the pilot program, as well as the evening train that leaves Stamford at 5:07 p.m.

When checking schedules for quiet cars, look for the capital "Q".
