Woman Stabs Victim With Samurai Sword During Dispute: New London Police
Police said the woman grabbed for the decorative sword on the wall once the victim wouldn't leave the apartment fast enough.

NEW LONDON, CT — A woman is accused of stabbing and injuring a man with a Samurai-type sword during a domestic dispute just before midnight, police said.
Police said at 11:44 p.m. Friday officers responded to Farmington Avenue in New London on a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, Officers determined the suspect, Juanita Bentley, 51, of New Haven, had stabbed a victim, with an unknown instrument, police said in a news release.
The victim told Ooficers that Bentley had stabbed him with a decorative Samurai type sword, police said. That the victim and Bentley were having an argument which escalated to the point where Bentley asked the victim to leave, police said.

According to the victim when he didn't leave the apartment fast enough Bentley removed the decorative Samurai type sword from a wall and cut the victim on his back and arms as he fled out of the apartment, police said.
The victim ran to a neighboring apartment where police were called via 911, police said. The victim was transported and treated at L/M Hospital for injuries, which were reported to be non-life threatening, police said.

Bentley was taken into custody without incident. It was determined that Bentley had cleaned the crime scene prior to police arrival, however some items of evidentiary value were recovered, police said.
She is charged with first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, and second-degree breach of peace. She is being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
