Boys’ Soccer and Field Hockey Ready for States

While the undefeated football team still has three regular-season games left, two other North Branford High School teams are getting ready for the state tournament. The state tournament has already been affected by weather as Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc on the final week of the regular season, the opening day of states has now been pushed back due to the falling snow.

Boys’ Soccer

The boys’ soccer team, which has missed out on postseason play in recent years, finished the regular season with an 8-6-2 record to earn the No. 15 seed.

The T-Birds host 18th-seeded Wamogo, which also finished the regular season with an identical 8-6-2 record, on Thursday, Nov. 8 at 6:30 p.m. The winner will face No. 2 seed Hale Ray (11-3-2) on Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. at Hale Ray.

Field Hockey

The T-Birds' field hockey team took a 10-4-2 record away from the 2012 regular season to earn the No. 8 seed in the Class S State Tournament.

North Branford will face a familiar opponent in the first round as the T-Birds will host Westbrook –which earned the No. 9 seed with a 9-4-2 regular-season record – on Thursday, Nov. 8 at 4 p.m. at home. During the regular season, North Branford tied Westbrook 0-0 on Sept. 27 before topping the Knights 1-0 on Oct. 4.

The winner will move on to the quarterfinals on Nov. 10.
