NORTH HAVEN, CT — A fire at the CSX Cedar Hill Yard was brought under control early Saturday morning.
According to a press release from the North Haven Fire Department, firefighters received a report of a fire at the rear of 110 Universal Drive, in a rail car at the yard around 3 a.m.
A hopper car containing construction debris was involved in the fire. About a third of the freight car was engulfed in flames, authorities said. Adjacent hopper cars containing similar materials were at risk of exposure, but firefighters were able to contain the one-alarm fire.
