Fire Breaks Out In Norwalk Home's Garage, Family Displaced: FD

A family was displaced after a car fire broke out in the attached garage of their Norwalk home, according to fire officials.

NORWALK, CT — A family was displaced after a car fire broke out in the attached garage of their Kreiner Lane home late Sunday night, according to fire officials.

In a news release, Deputy Fire Chief Adam Markowitz said a structure fire was reported around 11 p.m. at after a car fire broke out in the one-story split-level ranch home's attached garage.

Firefighters found heavy flames coming from the home's garage and basement. All residents were out of the home and accounted for when crews arrived, Markowitz said.

Crews were able to extinguish the blaze in approximately 20 minutes and contain the fire to the home's basement, preventing the flames from extending to the first floor and attic, Markowitz said.

No injuries were reported, however one family was displaced by the fire, Markowitz said. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
