Firefighters Extinguish Boat Fire In Norwalk: Fire Department

The fire was reported Thursday afternoon at docks off Water Street, according to authorities.

NORWALK, CT — Firefighters extinguished a boat fire Thursday afternoon at the docks at 144 Water St. in Norwalk, according to Norwalk Deputy Fire Chief Steve Shay.

No injuries were reported in the fire, which occurred at about 5 p.m.

"The fire started in the engine compartment and extended to mostly the stern area of the boat," Shay said in a statement, adding that the fire was doused with no damage to surrounding boats.

In addition to two Norwalk engine companies, the department's M238 Fire Boat was also called to the scene to put out the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Shay said.
