Norwalk Man Faces DUI, Pot Possession Charges in Greenwich

The suspect was charged after police checked on the driver who pulled over to the side of the road about 2:30 in the morning.

Greenwich Police checking on a car that stopped and then pulled over to the side of Edgewood Avenue about 2:30 in the morning ended up busting the 20-year-old driver from Norwalk for possession of marijuana and driving under the influence.

Police decided to check out the car and driver because of a recent spate of burglaries in the area and that it was early in the morning of Dec. 13, according to a police report. As officers approached, there was a smell of marijuana coming from the car, according to the report.

A canine unit was brought to the scene and the dog gave a positive indication for drugs. Officers found a quantity of “an organic leafy substance suspected to be marijuana” inside the car, along with a digital scale, rolling papers and an unspecified amount of cash, according to the report.
