Person Found Dead After Norwalk Apartment Fire: FD

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to fire officials.

NORWALK, CT — A person was found dead after a fatal apartment fire Monday night in Norwalk, according to fire officials.

In a news release, Deputy Fire Chief Michael McCallum said a neighbor reported smoke coming from an apartment on Prowitt Street around 8 p.m.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, then searched the apartment and ventilated the building, McCallum said.

McCallum said one civilian death was reported. The person's identity has not been released at this time.

A total of 25 firefighters responded to the incident and brought the blaze under control around 8:30 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation, McCallum said.
