NORWALK, CT — A 59-year-old Stamford man, who Norwalk police said appears to have suffered a medical incident while behind the wheel, was killed Sunday afternoon when his vehicle ran off the road in Norwalk and slammed into a parked vehicle, according to Norwalk Deputy Fire Chief Edward Prescott. The man's identity had not been released as of Monday evening.
Norwalk firefighters were called to the parking lot of Hotel Zero on Main Avenue just after 4 p.m. on a report of a single-car crash.
"The driver of a Subaru Forester may have suffered a medical event while driving northbound, on Main Avenue," wrote Prescott in a statement. "The SUV crossed the southbound lanes, mounted the curb, struck and split a 15’ tree at the roots, then hit a parked vehicle in the Hotel's parking lot. Both of the cars and tree ended up about 15’ from the building."
