Amity Regional High School was ranked the 10th-best public high school in the state in a study published by Niche.com, a website that ranks schools across the nation.
The nine schools coming in ahead of Amity were Weston High School (No. 1) and New Canaan High (No. 2), Staples High School (3), Darien (4), Simsbury (5), Ridgefield (6), Wilton (7), Greenwich (8) and Glastonbury (9). High schools in West Hartford, Farmington and Cheshire, were the next-highest ranked, right after Amity.

The study graded and ranked schools after looking into these factors: academics, teachers, extracurricular activities (for all four of which, Amity received an “A+” grade), resources and facilities (for these, Amity received a grade of “A”), sports and fitness, (”A-”), health and safety (“B”), a parent/student survey (Amity scored 3.8 out of a possible 5.0), and “student culture & diversity” in which Amity received a ”C+”.
The study ranked 100 high schools in Connecticut and many more elsewhere. Among the high schools that the website ranked the 100 best in the country were Weston (No. 84), New Canaan (No. 85) and Westport (No. 94), the only schools from Connecticut on that list.
