Oscar Winner 'Argo' to be Screened at Orange Library

"Argo," one of the big winners at the Oscar's last night with three awards — including the top prize for best picture — will be screened at the Case Memorial Library in Orange this week.

The first screening will take place tonight, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m. It will be shown again on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 1 p.m.

The library announcement describes Argo as "A dramatization of the 1980 joint CIA-Candadian secret operation to extract six fugitive American diplomatic personnel out of revolutionary Iran."

The three awards Argo took home last night are:

  • Best Picture
  • Best Adapted Screenplay (Chris Terrio)
  • Best Editing (William Goldenberg)

The screening is part of a series the library is hosting. The Oscar-nominated film "Flight" was previously shown. Another, "Beasts of the Southern Wild," will be shown Monday, March 4, at 7 p.m. and Wednesday, March 6, at 1 p.m.

Case Memorial Library is located at 176 Tyler City Road, Orange. Seating is limited so reservations are recommended. You can do so by calling the library at 203-891-2170.
