Police: Man Was Sleeping in Church's Attic

A 22-year-old man was allegedly caught sleeping in an Orange church's attic at 3:40 p.m. on Jan. 25.

According to Orange Police, Shawn Lei, of Madison, was charged with second-degree criminal trespassing at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 210 Old Grassy Hill Road.

"Officers learned that the church’s staff was conducting a meeting there when the arrestee exited the church’s attic. The church staff indicated that the church had otherwise been closed and locked," the report states. "The arrestee indicated that he had gotten tired while traveling, so he stopped at the church and slept in the attic. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged."

Lei was released after posting a $500 bond. He is schedule to appear in court on Feb. 8.
