The Ansonia Animal Shelter is asking area residents for help identifying the owners of a malnourished pit bull found wandering around in Ansonia Tuesday and for any donations to help with its care.
The poor creature was found a week after
another emaciated dog was discovered on Booth Hill Road in Shelton.
The female pit bull found in Ansonia Tuesday was taken to a local veternarian for care, according to the Ansonia Animal Shelter.
“She is extremely weak and can barely stand up,” Mary Sirochman wrote in
a post on the shelter’s Facebook page. “Every bone in her body is visible and on top of this she has a large tumor on her body. She will need to gain weight and get strong before it can be removed.”
The shelter has started a
fundraising campaign on Fundrazr.com and received nine donations totaling $200 in the first three hours.
“She is at a vet’s officer where she had a yummy bowl of food that she hasn’t had in a very long time,” Sirochman said. “She is resting but she will need a lot of medical attention… She has a very long road ahead.”
Anyone with information about the dog’s owners is asked to contact the shelter at 203-410-7716.
