Oxford Donates a Fire Truck to a Vermont Fire Department

Oxford officials say they could have sold it but felt the right thing to do was to donate it to a community who needs a truck.

The town of Oxford donated a fire truck to the Corinth Fire Department in Vermont for no cost. The town retired the more than 25 year old fire engine that had been housed at the Riverside Fire Company.

First Selectman George R. Temple said the town could have sold the engine for about $5,000 but that the town in Vermont was in need of a fire truck.

He said all of the fire departments try to help each other out and this was Oxford’s way of helping another fire company in need. The two Corinth officers picked up the truck in Oxford on Thursday and drove it back to Vermont.
