Robert Magi, 19, was arrested in connection with break-ins in Seymour and is also now a person of interest in at least six car breaks in Oxford where loose change and electronics were stolen, Oxford Resident Trooper Sgt. Dan Semosky said. Magi was charged Monday in Seymour with sixth-degree larceny.

“We were working with Seymour because we had similar cases, and they did a nice job of police work in tracking this guy down,” Semosky said. “Right now, (Magi) is  officially considered a person of interest in our case.”

Oxford police received complaints on the morning of Sunday, Sept. 25, hours after they suspected two teenagers robbed them and fled on bicycles. Car break-ins were reported on Silano Drive, Punkup Road, Belinsky Circle and Tetlak Lane. Those incidents happened between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m.

Police have since boosted the number of officers patrolling streets at night, especially in the neighborhoods that were hit, Semosky said. He urges residents to take all proper precautions, such as taking items of value out of their cars and removing all money, even loose change.

The Oxford incidents remain under investigation. Anyone with information on the suspects, who were caught on surveillance camera images that are attached to this story, is urged to call the Oxford Resident Trooper’s Office at 203.888.4353. All calls will be kept confidential.

Meanwhile, Magi’s case from Seymour is pending in court. As of Wednesday, he was still being held on a $2,500 bond, according to the state Judicial Branch website.

Seymour police could not be reached for comment about the case for which Magi was arrested.
