Temple: Storm Was Not Kind to OXford

First selectman reminds us that spring is not that far away, although it sure doesn't seem like it.

Temple: Storm Was Not Kind to OXford

The following is the latest CodeRed Emergency notification to go out to residents and businesses in Oxford.

This is Oxford First Selectman George Temple with an update on storm Nemo. Nemo was not kind to Oxford. We have experienced high winds and over 36 inches of snow. As a result, plowing is very difficult. Our public works employees have been at it for over 30 straight hours. We have had equipment break downs and plows stuck in the snow, but our employees and emergency service personnel continue to do an excellent job.

I realize that some of our roads need attention, but I expect all of our roads to be open by midnight tonight. I will continue the state of emergency declared by me until noon tomorrow (Sunday, Feb. 10). All non-essential vehicles should be off the roads until then. We do have good news in that we did not experience any prolonged power outages

Remember: the first day of spring is in 40 days. Keep warm and if you have any questions or concerns call me at 203 906 0348.
