Lego Contest Part Of Open House Day At Dinosaur State Park

Open House Day is Saturday.


ROCKY HILL, CT - As part of Connecticut Open House Day on June 11 Dinosaur State Park in Rocky Hill, will offer free admission to the museum from 9 a.m. to 4:40 p.m.

A "build a Lego dinosaur contest" will also be staged on Saturday. Lego bricks will be provided and participants must construct their dinosaur at the Park that day. The contest is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a prize will be awarded in three categories: ages 5 and younger, ages 6 through 10 and 11 and older. Builders will not be able to keep their creations.

Visitors can enjoy films, animal programs and guided nature walks (weather permitting) throughout the day. The track casting and mining areas are now open and anyone who wants to make a cast must bring 10 pounds of Plaster-of-Paris and a quarter-cup cup of cooking oil. The area is open from m 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Only one cast per family or group may be made.

The mining activity is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and there is a materials fee. A free craft area will also be open in the Discovery Room from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
