News and updates from the campaign trail in Connecticut.

Campaign Notebook: Murphy Responds to Bysiewicz Ad

Senate

Chris Murphy (D): In response to Democratic rival Susan Bysiewicz's new ads accusing Murphy of taking contributions from Wall Street and hedge funds, Murphy released a statement that Bysiewicz is actually attacking former Congressman Scott Murphy:

"The new ad accuses Chris Murphy of taking 'more hedge fund money than any Democrat in Congress.' In fact, Murphy has never been the top Democratic recipient of hedge fund contributions in Congress. Ever."

Linda McMahon (R): Campaign manager Corry Bliss has posted Linda McMahon's new ad on her campaign website. It promotes McMahon's Jobs Plan.

Third District

Rosa DeLauro (D): DeLauro released a statement in response to the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau/Department of Education report:

“Only by keeping college affordable and available can we continue to have a strong middle class and good job growth in America.  Unfortunately, the financial pressures on students have continued to grow. As this report shows, the boom and bust of the financial crisis impacted student borrowers in the same way that it hurt other consumers.  This clearly demonstrates the need to increase transparency in private student loan lending and ensure that adequate protections are in place to prevent students from falling into greater debt.”

Wayne Winsley (R): Winsley posted on his Facebook page in support of small business:

"If you have a successful business, YOU DID build that. Let's restore the Promise of America#winsleyforcongress"

Fourth District

WestportNow reports that Jim Himes has raised $2.24 million in his campaign, which is three times more than Steve Obsitnik's total.
