Antonia Nuzzi, 81; Mother of Stamford Residents

Antonia Nuzzi, of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014 at Stamford Hospital. She was 81.

She was born on Dec. 23, 1932 in Maddalloni, Italy to the late Giovanni and Maddalena Merola Leggiero.

Antonia is survived by her four children, Maddalena Siciliano, Giovanna Pascarella and Andrea Nuzzi, all of Stamford, and Carmine Nuzzi of Norwalk. Also surviving are eight loving grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two sisters, Maria Perrotta of Stamford, Rosa Leggiero of Italy and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents ,Antonia was predeceased by her devoted husband Pasquale Nuzzi in 2011 and a sister Giovanna Leggiero.

A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 9 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Mary’s RC Church, 566 Elm St., Stamford, at 9:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph’s Mausoleum, Putnam Cemetery of Greenwich. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13.
